MAYOR'S PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release:                Layton Square Development Update

I would like to provide our community with an update on the Layton Square development in the 3500 block of Layton Avenue.  Construction of the facility has come in (thanks to two mild winters), five months ahead of schedule and they received their occupancy permits in the end of January 2017.

Since then, inquiries for the residential portion have been about 100 per day over the past couple of months.  Considering there are 57 residential units available and currently 35 of those are rented, the demand for these units has exceeded our initial expectations.  They appreciate your patience as they continue to move through the residential application process.

For the commercial space located on the first floor, Bear Development has signed an agreement with a Sports Physical Therapy Company for half of the commercial space.  According to the current plans, they are planning an opening in May of this year.  Bear Development also has been and continues to seek a commercial tenant for the additional first floor space.  Now that the building is complete, it is much easier to rent.

“This project has been something the City of Cudahy has been looking for within our downtown for over 20 years,” stated Mayor John Hohenfeldt.  “We knew that demand would be high for the residential and commercial components of this project.  Coming in five months ahead of the construction schedule, this is a catalyst project for the continued revitalization of downtown Cudahy along with the other already completed projects.”
