Cudahy War Memorial and City of Cudahy join program to honor the Vietnam War Commemoration as a part of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War.
Commemoration to be a part of 2017 Cudahy War Memorial, Cudahy Memorial Day Celebration.
Beginning on Memorial Day 2012, the Federal Government began a partnership program with local government, private organizations, and communities across America to participate in the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War – a 13-year program to honor and give thanks to a generation of proud Americans who saw our country through one of the most challenging missions we have ever faced. The City of Cudahy and Cudahy War Memorial, through a collaborative partnership, have joined in this Commemoration with an application in 2016.
The Cudahy War Memorial and City of Cudahy, as a part of our Memorial Day Program held on Monday May 29th at 10:30 am, will be honoring several recipients of the Commemoration of the Vietnam War from our community. In addition, a family member of one of our fallen within our community will also be honored during the 2017 celebration. The Memorial Celebration is held at the Cudahy War Memorial site, at the corner of Layton Avenue and Lake Drive.
Bruce Maresh, President of the Cudahy War Memorial, “upon learning of this program, we instantly applied to be a part of the program in partnership with the City of Cudahy. “The Cudahy War Memorial and our community for years has held a great Memorial Day Celebration and will expand this year, and in future years honoring those from the Vietnam Era,” added Cudahy Mayor John Hohenfeldt.
